The peasant vest
Author’s description:
„Maybe for someone it would seem a simple article of clothing, a component part of the peasant popular costume from the hill and mountain area.
But thinking from the time perspective, it conveys a nonverbal message about the combination between the useful and the beautiful, about the aspiration towards spirituality of some simple people that are living strongly anchored in nature.
Made of soft lamb leather, the peasant sleeveless fur coat is a warm and protective space in cold seasons.
I have made this painting as a sign of homage brought, in a centenary year, to a hundreds of years old symbol that has crossed centuries.
Intentionally, I avoided customizing the vest by locating it in a certain folkloric area. Thus, the sky with the stars and the flowers of the field have been placed on this object of clothing, decorated with floral and geometric motives gathered from the field of imagination into an asymmetric and atypical calculation.”
