The rice harvest in the Verona area
An almost isolated case in the production of Favretto - who dedicated a second variation to the subject in 1878 - the canvas was created by the painter of the countryside around Isola Rizza in the lower Veronese. Despite the work-related scene, The real subject of the work - which is influenced by the chromatic example of Ciardi’s painting - is the landscape of which Favretto aims to capture the values of principle by synthesizing the relationships between the colors and the lights and playing with the wide backgrounds of saturated colors.
